Claudette's Story

I never imagined that stepping into a new career would change me so deeply, not just what I do every day, but how I see the world and my place in it. Person-centred care has become more than just a job. It’s a way of connecting with people, of recognising their dignity and humanity, and of discovering a sense of purpose I didn’t know I was searching for.
Each day, I meet people where they are, not where I think they should be. That shift in perspective has opened my heart in ways I never expected. There’s a quiet joy in knowing that simply being there, really being present, can make someone’s day feel warmer, easier, and more dignified.
This work has helped me grow, too. I’m more patient now, more intuitive, more reflective. It’s stretched me in beautiful ways that I’m incredibly grateful for.
What I’ve come to understand is that person-centred care is built on listening, respecting, and uplifting each individual. Their choices matter. Their comfort matters. And their voice must be heard. I’ve learned that the smallest acts of kindness, those gentle gestures we sometimes overlook, aren’t small at all. They’re life-giving.
This path has shown me how powerful it is to honour humanity in every interaction. And that’s a transformation I carry with me, always.
