World Menopause Day 2025: Grace, Grit & Gentle Moves

ree

Today marks World Menopause Day, and we’re here to celebrate it with a bit of wisdom, a dash of humour, and a whole lot of care. Whether you're supporting someone through menopause or experiencing it yourself, this day is about understanding, empowering, and yes, laughing through the hot flushes and memory lapses.

The Mid-Life Shift

Menopause is more than just a biological milestone, it’s a transformation. Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can affect sleep, mood, memory, and mobility. And while we can’t stop time (or the occasional mood swing that rivals a Shakespearean tragedy), we can take steps to feel stronger, more supported, and more in control.

Move It Your Way

Staying active doesn’t mean signing up for a triathlon. In fact, low-impact activities like walking, swimming, or dancing around the kitchen to ABBA are brilliant for overall wellbeing. Julie Robinson, founder of MenoHealth, recommends tailoring your exercise regime to suit your body’s needs. Think gentle strength training, resistance bands, and movement that feels good, not punishing.

Strength Is the New Steady

Muscle mass naturally declines with age, but that doesn’t mean we should wave goodbye to strength. Lifting light weights (or tins of beans, no judgement here) can help support the muscles that keep us mobile and confident. Start small, go slow, and remember: every rep is a step toward feeling stronger and more capable.

Supplements: A Helping Hand

While lifestyle is key, some women find that supplements like GOPO can help support joint health from the inside out. It’s not magic, but it might just be the boost your body needs to keep up with your grandkids, or your favourite Strictly Come Dancing routine.

For Our Care Staff

You’re the unsung heroes supporting women through every stage of life. On World Menopause Day, take a moment to check in with your clients, and yourselves. A warm chat, a gentle walk, or even sharing this blog post could make someone feel seen, supported, and a little less alone.

Final Thought

Menopause isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience. It’s messy, marvellous, and sometimes maddening. But with the right support, a few lifestyle tweaks, and a good laugh, we can all move through it with grace (and maybe a few groans).

So here’s to strong women, steady strides, and strong cups of tea. Happy World Menopause Day!
